The Police and Crime Commissioner and District Council elections take place on 5 May 2016. If you have recently moved to the area or moved house you must register again at your new address in order to be eligible to vote.
Only those people who are registered can take part in May’s elections so if you have recently moved to the area or moved house it is important that you register again at your new address. Registering to vote is straightforward and can be done online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The deadline date for receiving applications to register for the May elections is Monday 18 April 2016.
If you cannot visit a polling station on the day of the elections, you can still have your say by applying to vote by post or proxy. The deadline for receipt of new postal vote applications is 5.00 pm on Tuesday 19 April 2016 and for new proxy vote applications 5.00 pm on Tuesday 26 April.
