St Stephen Parish has a variety of outdoor facilities offering a wide range of opportunities for sport and recreation, with many clubs, societies, sports and social groups operating on a regular basis.

Football pitches and cricket squares are available for hire throughout the relevant season at:

  • Greenwood Park, Chiswell Green
  • Park Street Recreation Ground
  • The Parish Centre, Bricket Wood (football only).

All sites are easily accessible from St Albans, Watford and Hemel Hempstead, with motorway links to the M1 and M25 no more than 2 miles from any of the sites.

All-weather tennis courts are available to hire throughout the year at Greenwood Park.

In addition to the outdoor sports facilities the Parish Council owns and maintains children’s play areas with the Parish, all located within public open spaces, outdoor adult fitness equipment, areas of ancient woodland and three allotment sites.

A wide range of clubs and groups also operate at our indoor venues offering activities for everyone, from music for babies and toddlers, right through to exercise classes for the ‘not so young’ and a wide range of social and special interest groups.
