The District Council has agreed St Stephen Parish’s Neighbourhood Plan Area so the development of the Parish’s Neighbourhood Plan can now move to the next stage, including a series of public consultation events.
Some 60 local residents who had expressed interest being involved in the development of the Neighbourhood Plan attended the Launch event held on 31 March 2015. The event included a short presentation from the Parish Council’s consultant and Parish Councillors and members of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group were on hand to answer questions. Guests had the opportunity to comment on a number of key issues and to put their names forward for the five Focus Groups, each concentrating on a specific area of interest.
The Parish Council is now embarking on the next stage of the process, which is a series of three public consultations taking place on:
- Tuesday, 19 May 2015, 6.30pm – 8.30pm The Parish Centre, Bricket Wood, AL2 3PJ
- Saturday 30 May 2015, 10.00am – 12.00 noon Greenwood Park Community Centre, Chiswell Green, AL2 3HW
- Thursday 4 June 2015, 7.30pm – 9.30pm Park Street Village Hall, Park Street, AL2 2PX
This will give the wider public of the Parish who didn’t attend the Launch event the chance to find out more about the Neighbourhood Plan and provide their input. Feedback from these events will be used to develop the Plan itself.
The Leader of the Steering Group commented:
‘“This is probably the most exciting and wide ranging community event that this Council has undertaken. It must involve the whole community and requires commitment and enthusiasm from those willing to take part.”
