Woodbury Field Improvement Project – what do you want from your park?

Woodbury Field Improvement Project – what do you want from your park?

Close to £100,000 of Section 106 funding has been earmarked to be spent on improving facilities at Woodbury Field, a play area and open space at the junction of West Riding and Lye Lane, in Bricket Wood.

St Stephen Parish Council would like to hear your views about what improvements you’d like to see at Woodbury Field. We believe – and hope you do too – that the park is, and should remain:

  • A welcoming place
  • A clean and well-maintained space
  • A place for residents to be active
  • A place to develop skills
  • An inclusive space, providing something for all

Your input will enable us to gauge the priorities and draw up some possible designs within the budgets available and that meet the funding criteria. We will then have to bid for the funding.

The earmarked funding is from a Section 106 leisure payment associated with the housing development at Hanstead Park off Smug Oak Lane. St Stephen Parish Council lease the open space from St Albans District Council and are considering the best way to meet the needs of the community within the criteria of the funding.  The S106 criteria prevents it being used to improve drainage or to put in additional play equipment for pre-school aged children. However, additional funding for a stand-alone project could also be applied for.
