I have lived in Chiswell Green for over 30 years with my wife Valerie and two ( now grown up) sons. I have during many of those years enjoyed the privilege of serving the community as a member of both the Parish Council and the Chiswell Green Residents Association.

I take a keen interest in any matters concerning our village, the local countryside, footpaths,  natural environment and in particular the Green Belt. This reflects in some of the committees I serve upon! Being on the Planning Committee, I am watchful for any planning applications that may be detrimental to the wellbeing of our village and its residents and oppose them accordingly. I am particularly concerned about defending our Green Belt against inappropriate development.

I moved to Chiswell Green over 30 years ago with my husband Nigel and brought up our daughters who are both now married and still living in Hertfordshire.  I had been involved with the Residents’ Association for several years when I was asked if I was interested in becoming a Parish Councillor.   Sadly Nigel died not long after I was elected, but eight years on I am still a councillor.  I continue to be employed at Killigrew School but on a much smaller scale than in the past.  I spend a lot of my spare time with charities – Lord’s Taverners, Rotary and I’m the treasurer for a large local netball club, still playing on the team occasionally.

I feel it is important to contribute to the local community if able to do so.  I like to be involved with matters concerning the environment and with events that draw in the local residents so they can see what a great place our Parish is to live in.
